Porta San Paolo, Roma
Less known than the main attractions of Rome, the Pyramid of Cestius (in Italian, Piramide di Caio Cestio or Piramide Cestia) is an ancient pyramid, covered with marble, near the Porta San Paolo (Saint Paul’s Gate). It was built during Augustus’ reign as a tomb for Caio Cestio, Praetor and Tribune of the People, who died in 12 AD, and it is now one of the best preserved ancient buildings in Rome.
